It's 5 AM.
I've got my coffee.
The house is quiet.
And last week, in that quiet, I watched a video about Richard Feynman.
I want to be careful here. Nobody knows if Feynman was dyslexic. I am not interested in retroactively diagnosing historical figures.
But everything I heard him describe about how he actually thought sounded like someone narrating the inside of my own head.
He was never satisfied with symbols. When most students learned math by manipulating notation correctly, he wanted to know what was actually happening underneath it. When most people memorized a definition, he wanted to rebuild it from first principles.
He used to say something about names. If you know the name of a bird in every language on earth, you still do not know anything about the bird. You have learned something about language. Not about the bird.
That distinction has been sitting with me all week.
Because it is the same question I have been circling in this newsletter for three years now.
What is underneath the label?
The Idea I Cannot Let Go Of
Three years ago, something changed. AI entered my life.
And I started asking a question I have not been able to put down since.
What happens when technology finally understands the thing that has challenged me my entire life?
Language.
Before I go further, let me be clear about what I am not saying.
I don't think AI is going to make language disappear. I don't think people will stop reading. I don't think writing stops mattering.
I think something more interesting is happening.
I think AI is going to change our relationship with language.
The Problem Was Never the Thinking
For most of my life, I knew I thought differently. I just didn't know why.
I wasn't identified as dyslexic until I was an adult.
Looking back now, so many things make sense.
I could see connections quickly. I could recognize patterns. I could jump between ideas. I could see the big picture.
Then came the hard part.
Explaining it.
Someone would ask, "how did you get there?"
And I would think, I don't know how to explain it. I just see it.
That was the frustrating part.
The thinking was never broken. The ideas were never missing.
The translation was the challenge.
Then AI Changed the Conversation
When I first started using AI, I thought it was going to help me write faster.
It did.
But that wasn't the biggest surprise.
The biggest surprise was that AI helped me think.
It became a conversation partner. I could take a messy idea. A half-formed thought. A connection that only existed somewhere in my head. And I could start exploring it.
What am I actually seeing here?
What am I missing?
Can you help me organize this?
The AI was not replacing my thinking. It was helping me uncover it.
That changed everything.
AI Is Not Just a Writing Tool
Most people talk about AI as a content generator. Write an email. Create an image. Summarize a document.
Those things are useful. I think they're just the beginning.
The bigger transformation is translation.
Think about what happens when I speak into my phone.
My voice becomes a signal. The signal becomes data. The data becomes mathematics. The mathematics becomes language. And then the language comes back to me in a form I can use.
A thought moved through multiple representations. And the meaning survived.
That is fascinating to me. Because maybe language was never the destination.
Maybe language was just one interface.
That is not the whole idea. It is the seed of a much bigger one, and I will keep pulling on it in the editions ahead.
Why This Matters for Neurodivergent Thinkers
For thousands of years, society built its systems around one very specific type of communication.
Read this. Write this. Spell this. Explain this, in order.
But human thinking has never actually been that simple.
Some people think in words. Some people think in pictures. Some people think in patterns. Some people think in systems. Some people think through connections that happen almost instantly, faster than language can keep up.
The challenge has always been the same: how do you translate different forms of thinking into something other people can understand?
That is the opportunity sitting inside AI right now. It is becoming a translation layer between different ways of thinking.
Not a replacement for any of them. A bridge between them.
Language as Interface, Not Gatekeeper
As AI keeps improving, I believe language will become less of a gatekeeper and more of an interface. Something that helps us communicate, rather than something that quietly decides who gets heard and who does not.
That is why I am optimistic about where this is headed.
For the first time in history, we are building technology that can help bridge the gap between thought and expression. For millions of dyslexic and neurodivergent thinkers, that bridge may unlock ideas that have been waiting a very long time to be shared.
OK But What Do I Actually Do With This?
One thing this week. Do not overthink it.
Pick one idea that has been stuck in your head, half formed, for longer than it should have been.
Do not write it. Speak it. Into your phone, into a voice memo, into whatever you already have open.
Let it come out messy. Then hand it to your AI and ask it to help you organize what you just said into something a stranger could actually understand.
Notice how much distance just collapsed between the thought and the expression of it. That gap used to cost you real time and real energy. Today it barely cost you five minutes.
Steal This Prompt
The next time you have an idea you cannot explain, try this.
"I have an idea that is clear in my head, but I need help organizing it. Ask me questions, one at a time. Do not give me answers. Help me uncover what I already know."
Sometimes the answer is not missing.
It just needs a bridge.

💬 The core idea: AI will solve language. For dyslexic and neurodivergent thinkers, that is a much bigger claim than it sounds.
🌉 The challenge was never a lack of ideas. It was translation, the distance between thought and communication. AI is shortening that distance every year.
🔄 Voice becomes signal. Signal becomes data. Data becomes mathematics. Mathematics becomes language. The meaning survives the whole trip. Maybe language was never the destination. Maybe it was just one interface.
🚪 Language is becoming less of a gatekeeper and more of an interface. Something that helps you communicate, rather than something that decides who gets heard.
